You’ve probably heard about the potential health and wellness benefits of CBD, including supporting relief from anxiety, pain, nausea, and help with relaxation and sleep. But you may be a bit hesitant to make your first CBD purchase because you don’t know what exactly to buy and where to buy it. You may even be wondering, is ordering CBD online legal? Does that sound like you?
If so, and if you’re like me, before I purchase a product I’m not very familiar with I go online and do some research. And since you’re reading this, it looks like you did the same thing – and you’re in the right place. That’s the great thing about Three Wells. We’re the first and only website created specifically for mature adults who are searching for trustworthy information and education about CBD and cannabis products. Read below for answers to the 3 questions you may have about purchasing CBD:
1. Is CBD Legal in My State?
CBD, the abbreviation for Cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in both traditional and hemp cannabis plants. The primary difference between the two plants is that hemp lacks Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that produces the psychoactive effects in cannabis. To be classified as a hemp plant, it must contain less than 0.3% THC by volume. The 2018 Farm Bill includes a provision that legalizes the cultivation and sale of hemp (cannabis with no more than 0.3% THC).
Most states have legalized Hemp CBD. That’s why you’ve probably seen small CBD dispensaries, often with Hemp in their name, open up in strip malls and shopping plazas in your town.
2. Is Ordering CBD Online Legal?
So, what if you don’t feel comfortable walking into your local CBD dispensary? It’s not uncommon to be a little apprehensive if you’ve never purchased CBD before. You’ve been doing research on CBD online, perhaps even checking out the Three Wells CBD products page. Could you just order CBD online and have it shipped to you? Is that legal?
The answer is if it’s legal to purchase and consume in your state, it’s legal for you to order CBD online and for the CBD product to be shipped across state lines, as long as it’s by a licensed company that is compliant with the 2014 Farm Act and the Hemp Farming Act of 2018.
If you choose to order CBD online, you will want to choose a reputable company to ensure you’re getting a quality product. I’d recommend exploring the Three Wells CBD products page. At Three Wells, our commitment to you is to uphold the highest of standards when it comes to the products, education and retailers you will find on Three Wells. We review every product and retailer before they go on our website. We filter out products that aren’t right for those of us over 40, make false claims, can’t certify their ingredients, or don’t adhere to testing standards. We also review retailers to make sure they are licensed, reputable and share a focus on the health and wellness.
3. What CBD Product is Right for Me?
One of the first things you will need to consider is whether you want a full-spectrum CBD product, broad spectrum CBD product or an isolate CBD.
- Full Spectrum CBD – a full spectrum CBD product, also known as the whole plant, includes all the naturally occurring compounds such as trichomes, phytocannabinoids, and terpenes and varying amounts of THC. These and other cannabinoids interact with each other to achieve a more balanced approach for wide-ranging health and wellness benefits.
- Broad Spectrum CBD – a broad spectrum CBD product has had the THC removed. Often, the removal of the THC removes some of the other CBD, CBD and CBG components.
- Isolate CBD – an Isolate CBD product contains only CBD. An “isolate” CBD product is the opposite of a full-spectrum approach, as the plant’s other ingredients are excluded from the final formulation.
The Three Wells CBD and Hemp Only pages where you can find a variety of CBD products that contain little or no THC, including tinctures, lotions, balms, capsules, and vapes. It’s an excellent way to explore the many options based on your preference for when, where, and how you want to use CBD.
CBD Tinctures or Drops
Tinctures are a very discreet way to use CBD. Using the eyedropper, putting a few drops in your mouth or under your tongue (known as sublingually) quickly gets CBD into your body. You can also use tinctures in herbal teas, other beverages, or on food. The Venice Cookie Company, a maker of excellent edibles, expanded into CBD tinctures which are vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free.
For people seeking high-dose options, Rx CannaCare offers CBD tinctures in 3000 or 6000 mg versions, as does Santa Cruz Medicinals with 5000 mg in a 4 oz. bottle. Our friends at W!NK offer a vegan CBD tincture sweetened with stevia as a low glycemic alternative to sugar, fructose, honey, and artificial sweeteners. As with all tinctures and edibles, when it comes to dosing don’t break the GLASS rule; go low and start slow (excuse the pun).
CBD Edibles
When you infuse CBD into a food or beverage it travels through your liver to enter the bloodstream. While it may take longer to feel CBD’s calming effects, it tends to last longer in your body. Flav® offers an entire line of flavored CBD strips like Watermelon and Blueberry. Similar to tinctures, Swifts CBD Honey can be used in teas or other beverages or simply on its own. They also offer CBD in their sugar-free mints. If home cooking is your thing, CBDaily Eats from Chef Matt has an entire line of CBD-infused vegetable oil, olive oil, chili oil, honey, and balsamic vinegar.
CBD Vapes
Vaping gets CBD into your bloodstream quickly as it avoids having to go through your liver. The medicine acts quickly, but may not last as long as other options. Our friends from Flav also offer CBD pens in an amazing number of flavors like Tropical, Polar Mint, and Blueberry to name a few. They are gluten-free and infused with the highest-grade aromatherapy terpenes. Three Wells partner Santa Cruz Medicinals also offers a strawberry-lemon CBD vape pen. No matter the brand you choose, if you’re new to vaping, the GLASS rule applies. Don’t overdo your initial doses until you find the right balance that works for you and your body. While CBD will not get you “high,” it produces calming, relaxing effects and too much may lead to you wanting to take a nap.
CBD Patches
Transdermal patches are an excellent way to medicate throughout the day. They are discrete, are similar to a bandaid, and provide long term relief. They’re also fast-acting because the CBD enters your bloodstream through your skin. The Papa & Barkley Releaf Patch is an excellent choice as is the Flav Transdermal Patch. You can cut them down into smaller sizes to personalize the dose to your preference and needs.
CBD Capsules
CBD capsules are another way for longer-term relief throughout the day. Like edibles, because the CBD in the capsules travels through your liver, the calming effects take longer to kick in but tend to last longer. You can purchase CBD capsules in varying doses, so again, remember the GLASS rule to start low and go slow until you discover what works best for you and your symptoms. At Three Wells, Flav Time Released Capsules offer CBD delivery throughout the day (or night). Each capsule contains Turmeric, known for its powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory effects. Herbs like Sour Jujube Seed, Schisandra Fruit, and Biota Seed may also provide additional healing properties.
If you’re thinking about buying a CBD product at your local dispensary or online to unlock the potential health and wellness benefits, Three Wells is here for you as you explore and learn about your choices.
